Artist Biography and Curriculum Vitae.
It would be inaccurate to place Nigel Stone in a particular art practice, but it would be accurate to say he has multiple influences. Born and raised in the heart of England's industrial Midlands in the 1960's, his mind soon turned to seeking a new life in Australia where he finally moved to in 1984. Throughout his career Nigel has applied himself to both paintings and sculptures, so whilst living in Australia he decided to concentrate on painting, and had many successful exhibitions in and around South East Queensland. Returning to England in 1998 he joined a group of Worcester based artists, who at that time were holding weekly life drawing sessions in the basement of a house. The group frequently held these small life drawing classes but in 2000 curated an exhibition of mixed disciplines in a derelict building within the city of Worcester. The exhibition proved to be very successful, with the result that Nigel's work was exhibited by Number 9, The Gallery, located in Brindley Place, Birmingham, where his work was successfully exhibited for two years. In 2014 he started studying for his BA in Fine Art, a move that was to shape the way he thought about his subject. His work became more energetic and more sculptural with hints of modernist and post modernist influences presenting themselves.
